The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has announced the new rates of the national minimum wage to apply from 1 October 2011:
* Adult rate will increase from £5.93 to £6.08 per hour;
* 18-20 year olds rate will increase from £4.92 to £4.98 per hour;
* 16-17 year olds rate will increase from £3.64 to £3.68 per hour
* Apprentices' rate will increase from £2.50 to £2.60 per hour.
