We have long experience of advising clients on constitutional issues. Specialist advice in this area has been given over long periods to charities and political party advisors as well as national regulatory bodies.
Today, there is an ever-increasing awareness of the right to question decisions of public bodies by way of "judicial review" and we have extensive experience of advising not only those who seek to challenge in this way but also those public bodies whose actions are thus challenged.
An important aspect of this work is an awareness of the duties of public bodies under the Human Rights Act 1998 and our appreciation of the ways in which the courts will, or will not interpret legislation to be compliant with the European Convention on Human Rights.
